What’s that on Your Face?

So as a Beauty Enthusiast (or junkie if you prefer), I have tried many cleansers, toners moisturizers, creams etc. etc., expensive and over the counter. And as an Esthetician, I get to experience the ones you can only purchase at a salon. So what really lies behind my bathroom door, what do I really use? Shhh! Once you enter, I will have to silence you!! No- just kidding- come on in!

My Arsenal for Perfect skin!

So in the AM, after I drag myself out of bed, and after I’ve hit the snooze button 2, 3, 4 times, I hit the shower. I wash my face, neck and shoulders with Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash by Philosophy. This wash works like a dream, and provides great resurfacing results. Such as buffering out fine lines and wrinkles (if you have them, which I don’t!) and acting like a mini-peel! It is gentle enough to use night and day, every day.  It also helps remove any makeup, I didn’t take off the night before-you’ll find out about that later. Yikes! Next up, Dr.Denese Hydroshield Firming Facial Serum. Now this is essential to my aging skin (watch it-I know what you’re saying)! For my age, I look Fabulous!! I  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff! I just ordered the super-size, 4oz!  This lightweight serum melts into the skin like butta’-well not like butta’ cause you wouldn’t put butta’ on your face, but you know what I mean. It “intensely moisturizes” dry and dehydrated skin, which can be a result of aging. I love the way it makes my face and neck feel SO SOFT!!-A little goes a long way, you only need 1 pump. When you first use it you’ll think, “This is so oily”. However, massage it into your face and neck, and let it penetrate in for 5 minutes, and let your skin DRINK it in. During that 5 minutes, I try to figure out what I’m wearing to work, start breakfast, get my son up you know the morning routine. I don’t have to wash it off, so I don’t need to rush.

Next up “Hope in a Jar” moisturizer by Philosophy. This is one of Oprah’s favorite things, and it works exactly how they describe it- “a drink of water for your skin.” This soufflé like moisturizer feels so good on my face! It is not heavy, not greasy and your skin will love it. Now my skin is glowing, my skin tone is even, and my pores are cleaned out. Yeah, bring on the day! My makeup is next, but that’s a whole different treasure chest!

In the evening, as I drag myself home from my J-O-B (just over broke) and after James fetches my slippers, I begin my evening routine. Now I have to admit, and don’t tell anyone, but sometimes I don’t wash my face in the evening! AYYY! That’s right- I know, I know that is the one rule, I tell my clients to follow-“wash your face at night” because it has all the dirt and gunk from the day. I’m working on it!! Geez! So when I do wash my face- I start with makeup remover for my eye makeup, because that stuff is like crazy glue! I put my Purity made Simple cleanser/toner from Philosophy on my Clarisonic!

Yeah my Clarisonic! I love this little machine. It takes off so much dirt and grime and makeup, so much better than just using my hands (I need to get one for my clients)! The Purity takes off my makeup, as well as balance out my Ph (toner). Next up Dr. Denese resurfacing pads- Love these! The name says what it does-I do this just 3-4 times a week and only at night. It’s not good to go into the sun after this- : 0 Now my Hydroshield (as in AM) and my Hope in a jar (as in AM)!

I know this all seems like a lot, but it is something that just fits into your morning and night routines. And you will definitely notice a difference in your skin no matter what system you decide to use, but make sure you cleanse, tone and moisturize, and SPF! If you have acneic skin, Proactiv is great-give it a try. All skin types need routine facials to stay in tip top condition, and to get a more thorough cleaning.
